Is Christian Yelich Faking Injuries Because He Can’t Steal Signs Right Now?

Christian Yelich is having back problems.

Or so they say.

Look. I’m no expert on backs. But Encyclopedia Brown taught me that back injuries are hard to prove. If you’re going to fake an injury, they’re a good one to fake. And with Yelich’s performance at Miller Park from 2018-20 vastly outpacing his performance elsewhere, and with a mild attentiveness from the baseball world to the possibility the Brewers were stealing signs at home after 1) at least one opponent used sequences of signs in Milwaukee even without runners on base, 2) Yu Darvish talked about why he stepped off the rubber once when Christian Yelich looked suspiciously to right-center field, and 3) Christian Yelich handled that accusation the exact way a guilty person would (by crying about it and then stinking at baseball for a year), all I’m saying is that it’s possible Yelich is trying to stay away from the plate until he can figure out a new sign-stealing system knowing fans in the outfield bleachers will have their eye out for suspicious activity (“if you see something, say something”).

Just saying it’s possible.
