Denny’s Is Getting Sneaky

Note: Sorry, yes, I told some of you this on Twitter when it happened. But I forgot to tell everybody!

You remember early in the pandemic, when Chuck E. Cheese was using the name of one of the instrumentalists in the animatronic band as the name for their “pizza place” on Uber Eats? To try to hide the fact they were Chuck E. Cheese?

Well, Denny’s is doing the same thing.

I happened upon it organically. Saw the request come in, and said, “That’s weird, there must be a food truck in the Starbucks lot next to Denny’s. That’s a small lot for that.” Then…

Want a bonus? The next night I brought the exact same guy a burger from a different burger place. Unfortunately, the streak broke after that, but what a rush.

Good on you, Denny’s.

  1. This is fascinating! Have you run into any « ghost restaurants » that exist only to serve customers via delivery platforms? I’ve heard of those in Chicago but haven’t seen them myself (naturally since they are ghosts).
