What a Ring Ceremony for Joe Kelly

Wow.

What a day that was.

First of all, we got to see Joe Kelly back on a baseball field, even if he wasn’t playing.

Secondly, I think Joe Kelly won the ring ceremony?

I know, I know. You don’t “win” ring ceremonies. But at the same time, while Ichiro does make this a tough race, it’s easy to argue that Joe Kelly had the coolest person do his introductory video, with the Dodgers recruiting Ken Griffey Jr., who even did The Face:

And then, well, there was this:

It was a great day to be a Joe Kelly fan, and I’d imagine an even greater day to be Joe Kelly. Ashley Kelly shared on her Instagram story that Griffey was Joe Kelly’s favorite player growing up, which is both 1) getting me emotional imagining something like my dad getting a World Series ring from Willie Mays and 2) getting me emotional imagining something like myself getting a World Series ring from Joe Kelly.

Congratulations, icon. You did it again (fun fact: only three active players have played in and won a World Series with multiple teams, which I think means Joe Kelly is one of the three best players in the game right now, and let’s all acknowledge that Jon Lester’s getting kinda old).
