Today’s Best Bets: Paul Skenes

Eury Pérez made it tough, but we’re back in the win column on baseball. More today.

Chicago (NL) at Pittsburgh

It’s Paul Skenes against Colin Rea, and I think people are overweighting the fact the Cubs woke up last night.

Pick: Pittsburgh to win –163. 9.68 units to win 5.94.

World Series

Did you know the Orioles are only a game out of playoff position? Because I didn’t.

Pick: New York (AL) to win +550. 2.00 units to win 11.00.
Pick: Baltimore to win +6600. 2.00 units to win 132.00.

Western Conference

We’re still hopeful that the Spurs can at least force Game 7 here, but it’s looking like the Thunder will get through. That puts us in a position of wanting our balance as high as possible so our Knicks leverage has the minimum space to cover.

Pick: Oklahoma City to win –370. 2.00 units to win 0.54.

Stanley Cup

Unfortunately, the Hurricanes are probably going to knock the Canadiens out of this. Fortunately, they’re probably a lot better than the Knights. Remember: The Western Conference stunk this year.

Pick: Carolina to win –135. 2.00 units to win 1.48.

These numbers are for the 2025–26 effort, which is currently scheduled to end at the end of the NBA Finals or Stanley Cup Final (whichever comes second). We’ll track the 2026–27 campaign in more detail when it’s fully underway (it’s partly underway right now with our MLB futures portfolio).

2025–26: –667.10 units (started with 1,000-unit bankroll)

2025–26: –7% average ROI (weighted by unit; sample size: 1,162 single-game markets plus seven completed futures portfolios and two partly completed futures portfolios)

Pre-2025: 0% average ROI (worse when limited to only sports)

Units taken from best odds we can find at major sportsbooks available to most Americans.
