The Senators Keep Rolling

The Ottawa Senators are good.

The Final:

Senators 2, Jets 1

How It Happened:

It was a tough one. Sens lost Thomas Chabot early, had a lot of penalties to kill, had a lot of shots to turn away. But they found a way. Filip Gustavsson was electric. Connor Brown and Nick Paul made something happen shorthanded early in the night. Nikita Zaitsev fired home the winner with the clock ticking down.

Any Fights?

Nope.

Standings:

Vancouver lost again, and while they still have more points per game than the Sens, that gap is closing and the raw points gap has grown. Also, Calgary isn’t entirely out of reach.

Toronto: 72 points, 52 games played
Edmonton: 64 points, 50 games played
Winnipeg: 57 points, 51 games played
Montreal: 57 points, 51 games played
Calgary: 47 points, 50 games played
YOUR BELOVED OTTAWA SENATORS: 45 points, 52 games played
Vancouver: 41 points, 46 games played

Senators News:

Haven’t heard anything about Chabot’s injury. The general thought is that it isn’t too serious, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be back this year.

Senators Thoughts:

This is fun. What a fun year.

Up Next:

The Canadiens come to town on Wednesday. In scoreboard-watching, Vancouver plays Edmonton again tonight, Thursday, and Saturday, so heading into Sunday our guys will only have four games in hand.
