The Senators Are Undefeated

They did it. They won. Senators? More like Canadian Kings.

The Final:

Senators 5, Maple Leafs 3

How It Happened:

I’m not entirely positive. I mean, I can see the score sequence: Leafs went up 1-0, Senators tied it, Leafs went up 2-1, Senators scored four unanswered to bury those cosmopolitan frauds (still like Nylander’s hair, though). Brady Tkachuk had a goal and two assists, and Thomas Chabot scored and had a +/- of plus-four, so I think I should learn at least those guys’ names. Senators outhit the Leafs by a lot. Love the physicality.

Any Fights?

It doesn’t look like it, but I see that Wayne Simmonds (plays for the Leafs, if you’re like me here) got ten minutes at the end for “misconduct.” Some internet digging indicates Simmonds is at least something of an enforcer, and it looks like he got into it last night with Austin Watson, who evidently is divisive at best in the hockey world (check his Wikipedia page, form your own impression, mine’s cautious), so I’m making a calculated decision to not hate on Simmonds. Not sure what I’ll do if there’s a fight tomorrow. Probably just say something like, “Simmonds fought Watson. [winner] won.”

Standings:

Sens in first place, friends. Big tie for first because it’s the beginning of the season and they’ve played fewer games than, say, the Leafs, but first place!

What’s Next:

Rematch. Which brings us to…

A PREVIEW

Whom:

Senators vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

Where:

Ottawa (still haven’t learned the rink/arena’s name)

When:

6:00 PM American Central Standard Time

How to Watch:

It’s on ESPN+, but I don’t pay for that, so guess I’m not watching again.

The Odds:

Big underdogs again. Leafs are at -200 to win.

The Opponent:

The Leafs. Led by Wayne Simmonds. And that Nylander dude with the good hair.

Senators News:

No clue. Guessing none huge, because I did a little Twitter reading, but could be very wrong. I did learn there’s a guy on the Sens named Tim Stützle, and he was the third pick in last year’s draft, and he goes by Jimmy Stü sometimes, which means the Senators have a Stü in addition to their new Stu. We will be good friends, Jimmy.
