The Playoffs Near, and Joe Kelly Is Ready to Feast

Is it time for the playoffs yet?

Because Joe Kelly is ready.

With the game tied in yesterday’s eighth inning, Kelly came in to get the Dodgers to the ninth. He struck Ryan McMahon out looking, freezing him with that two-seamer. He got Tony Walters to tap out to second. He induced a ground ball from Daniel Murphy that found a hole, then he made Charlie Blackmon ground out to short.

It marked Kelly’s 15th scoreless appearance in his last 19 outings, brought his season-to-date ERA down to 5.20, and brought his post-Joe Kelly Bobblehead Night ERA to a lean, mean 1.80. To put it simply, our hero is firing on all cylinders right now, displaying all the tendencies of a tiger just before mealtime.

Look out, National League.

Look out, Joe Kelly’s World Series opponent.

Our guy is hungry.

And you look like lunch.
