The Man Who Stole the Dallas Zoo Animals Simply Likes Animals

The man believed to be responsible for the theft of two emperor tamarin monkeys and the release of one clouded leopard (all three animals are now safe and reportedly healthy) was arrested last week, and recent court records share his motive:

He loves animals.

Reportedly, the 24-year-old told investigators he loves animals and that he’ll steal more if he has the chance, which is the kind of honesty you only get when someone loves animals and will steal more if given the chance. This isn’t someone trying to sell exotic animals on the black market or making a PETA-related stand. This is someone enthusiastic about animals channeling that enthusiasm in a bad way.

The mystery does still continue, because the man arrested has not been linked to the death of the vulture. Given nearly half of human murders in America currently go unsolved, it’s not looking good for getting answers on that one, but we’ll try to keep an eye out.

For news, I mean.

We aren’t going to investigate the vulture’s murder ourselves.

Although now that we think of it…
