Texas’s (and Iowa State’s) Schedule Changed by Weather—Three Thoughts

Here’s the rundown:

  • Texas’s game tomorrow against Oklahoma has been moved to Wednesday, at 5:00 PM Central.
  • Texas’s game Thursday against Iowa State has been doubly postponed (postponed2, if you will). Unclear if it will be made up. I haven’t checked the Big 12’s plans after checking the Horizon League’s plans and being so disturbed that I couldn’t sleep that night.
  • Joe gets to have a thought because this involves Iowa State, but we don’t count that thought because I’m writing these thoughts. Joe says, “Glad it isn’t Covid this time. Doesn’t really affect Iowa State except one fewer chance to roll the dice, I guess.”

UPDATE: The Texas/Oklahoma game is now tentatively scheduled for Thursday. We shall see. Thoughts below still stand.

Now, the thoughts:

1. I’m not sure this matters that much.

Feels like Texas is fine if they get the Iowa State game in or not. It’s possible this matters in that it could affect how Texas plays against Oklahoma, but my best guess on that is that it won’t be a big effect.

2. Will Texas be able to drive up there tomorrow?

At the moment, my guess would be: “No.” Which means this game’s probably getting pushed back again? Or canceled? Or…

3. Oh no please keep those guys safe.

If they send them on a dangerous I-35 to Norman for this game…that would be a very bad idea. Hopefully someone would stop that from happening. Wonder if that’d be where Shaka Smart would say enough is enough.
