Texas Dismisses Texas State—Three Thoughts

1. That was easy.

Sure, Texas State stayed within arm’s reach at times, but overall, Texas was able to treat a game against a team on the upper side of mid-majordom like a scrimmage in terms of rotations and strategy. Matt Coleman and Courtney Ramey were each within a minute of their lowest playing time of the year. Donovan Williams got some run. Jericho Sims posted his best numbers since the Davidson game. Greg Brown found his stroke a bit.

2. The Dunk Show™ is a thing.

Being known for dunking, as a team, is fun. Texas has set themselves up to have fun. By my count, at least five Longhorns have had adrenaline-boosting slams on the year, and it’s possible I’m missing one from Gerald Liddell. It’s a riot.

3. All appears fresh for Sunday.

Brock Cunningham’s bruised chest is concerning, but Cunningham’s ethos suggests he might play better while in substantial pain. Keep an eye on it. Non-zero chance he gets MaCio Teague to punch him.
