Short, Stocky, Bald, and Insecure

The other day, I imagined a guy who never heard about the #MeToo movement but frequently used the hashtag in Twitter replies to signify agreement with the tweet to which he was replying. I then imagined his horror at learning what he had been tweeting for the last five years, and as the scene played out in my head, I realized I’d accidentally just written a Seinfeld bit. This is something that show would do with Costanza, were time ordered differently.

Anyway, this led me to google “George Costanza” because for some reason I wasn’t confident I knew Costanza’s last name. Which in turn led me to the little “About” blurb Google shows when you search certain things, which I assume the site takes from Wikipedia:

“George Louis Costanza is a fictional character in the American television sitcom Seinfeld, played by Jason Alexander. He is a short, stocky, bald man who struggles with numerous insecurities…”

Imagine having those be the first four things someone uses to describe you: ‘He’s short, he’s stocky, he’s bald, and he’s insecure.’ What a list! And how does that feel for Jason Alexander, who doesn’t necessarily bear his character’s insecurities but is certainly short, stocky, and bald, or at least was at the time the show was filmed? Did Jason Alexander ever have a glow up? Would anyone know? Has Jason Alexander been in a hundred things since Seinfeld went off the air and I just haven’t noticed because I don’t watch much TV or cinema? Hopefully he hasn’t done anything horrible. That’d really make this blog post look insensitive. More insensitive than it already looks.

  1. Jason Alexander has recently played roles in “Young Sheldon” and “Mrs. Maisel.” In both roles he was short, stocky, bald and relatively insecure.
