Senators Roll in Vancouver

Well this is fun.

The Final:

Senators 3, Canucks 0

How It Happened:

The seventh-place-but-just-by-a-point Senators dominated, beginning to end. Matt Murray shut the door like the neighbors when I walk by selling magazine subscriptions. There were power play goals. There was a shorthanded goal. I don’t know if Vancouver has a mascot but if they do, I’m willing to allege that he or she or they tried to desert at one point. Just great hockey by the Sens. And I say that as a man who has watched exactly zero minutes of Senators hockey this year but blogs about them undauntedly nonetheless.

Any Fights?

Yeah! And it produced a nice little combined 19 minutes of penalties. Great start to the series.

Standings:

Toronto: 63 points, 47 games played
Winnipeg: 57 points, 46 games played
Edmonton: 56 points, 45 games played
Montreal: 49 points, 44 games played
Calgary: 41 points, 45 games played
Vancouver: 39 points, 40 games played
YOUR BELOVED OTTAWA SENATORS: 38 points, 47 games played

One point. Seven games, yes, but one point.

Senators News:

Uh here’s some news for you: The Senators are good.

Also Nick Paul picked up a knock, as the British would say.

What’s Next:

Game two of four, still in Vancouver. Tomorrow night. Winner is in sixth place (Flames play the Canadiens tonight and tomorrow for those wondering).
