Pocono Recap: Planting Beef Seeds

I was listening to a podcast yesterday (not to brag) and someone said there’s this idea in journalism called writing in a pyramid style which means you should share the key information first and then layer in the details in decreasing order of importance. So, at the top of this pyramid, below the all-seeing eye from National Treasure, is this: Denny Hamlin won again yesterday.

Now, potential new beefs:

Michael McDowell vs. Chase Elliott

Early in the race, Michael McDowell (journeyman driver, most notable for this crash in 2008) lost a tire and spun wildly. He told his team over the radio that Chase Elliott had knocked him into the wall a few laps earlier, something that, on the video, looks like it did happen, but might have just been normal bump drafting? I’m not sure. Make your own judgment:

Kyle Busch vs. Ryan Blaney

This is what happened:

This is Kyle Busch’s response:

As with Elliott, not sure if Blaney was in the wrong because I do not know enough about NASCAR. Still, could develop into some good, mutual rage.

Clint Bowyer vs. Alex Bowman

This was how the pair finished:

Didn’t check whether Bowman was upset about it or not.

In other news, the race itself nearly had to be called early because of darkness. Hamlin passed Kevin Harvick with an aggressive, minimal pit stop to take the final lead. And Bubba Wallace took flight:
