Pitbull Owns NASCAR Now

Someone may have told you this week that Pitbull owns NASCAR now. You might wonder how true that is. The answer? It’s entirely true. Pitbull owns the entirety of NASCAR.

No, in actuality Pitbull is just a partner in Trackhouse Racing. But Trackhouse Racing did just buy Chip Ganassi Racing’s NASCAR operations, which ends an era and also establishes a pace at which, if maintained, Pitbull will own all of NASCAR by about 2030.

For the NASCAR fans in the chat, the silly season piece of this is that as those two teams go from a combined three charters to two, only Daniel Suárez is certain to stick around. Kurt Busch has been rumored to be 23XI’s preferred new second driver, which would leave the other Trackhouse spot open for Ross Chastain if both parties want that, but there’s a lot of uncertainty beyond Suárez with the situation. Long way from knowing, probably.

With that done, here’s the schedule for this weekend for NASCAR, Formula 1, SRX, and IndyCar:

Saturday

NASCAR Xfinity Series: Henry 180
Where: Road America (road course in Wisconsin between Milwaukee and Green Bay)
When: 2:30 PM EDT
Broadcast: NBC

Who is Henry? No preview besides that. We all don’t know who Henry is.

SRX: SRX Independence Showdown
Where: Lucas Oil Raceway (not Lucas Oil stadium—it’s a facility west of Indianapolis that has a few tracks, they’ll be racing on the 0.686-mile oval, which I believe is asphalt)
When: 8:00 PM EDT
Broadcast: CBS

Can Tony Stewart keep the winning streak going? Did Tony Stewart help create this just to show off?

Sunday

Formula 1: Austrian Grand Prix (or something like that, the languages get me all confused)
Where: Red Bull Ring (Austria, same as last week)
When: 9:00 AM EDT
Broadcast: ESPN

IndyCar: Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio
Where: Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (road course between Columbus and Cleveland)
When: 12:00 PM EDT
Broadcast: NBC

NASCAR Cup Series: Jockey Made in America 250 Presented by Kwik Trip (what a name—and before you say, “how American,” remember that we were pretty late to the party, as a country, when it came to putting advertisements on uniforms in team sports)
Where: Road America
When: 2:30 PM EDT
Broadcast: NBC

Previews for these three tomorrow morning.
