NIT Bracket Challenge Update: We Have a Scoreboard

What a first NITe. Oklahoma looked the part of the favorite. St. Bonaventure demonstrated they aren’t done yet. ESPN knew its audience and showed me clips of Shaka Smart during the VCU game.

We’ll have a full recap of tonight’s events on the morrow, but we wanted to let everyone know how everyone else’s bracket is doing (I’m assuming you already know how your own bracket’s doing, having tattooed a mirror image of it upon your abdomen so you can see it in the mirror when you wear a crop top). The answer? Phenomenally. Of our 404 brackets, a full nine remain perfect, and the average score at the moment is a robust 6.180693069. You guys are great. A few notes before we give you the link to the scoreboard:

  • Thirty of you have been disqualified. The rules said only one bracket per email address and that brackets were due at 7:00 PM EDT. You’re still on our scoresheet if you broke these rules, but you’re ineligible for prizes and your entry is marked in either dark gray (if you broke the time rule), gray (if you broke the multiple entry rule), or darker gray (if you broke both).
  • Some of you left slots blank. A brilliant move, because if nobody wins the game in question, you’re going to get a lot of points. However, right now those aren’t showing as instances where you can get points. So, some of you who got all nine right this evening don’t have a full 80 points in the “Max Possible” column. That’s why.
  • A few bracket names were used by multiple entries. I indicated which was which by putting clues next to their names in parentheses, such as, “email starts with a b.”
  • I ate a frozen pizza tonight for supper.
  • Among celebrities, Anthony Barone—manager of the Milwaukee Milkmen, the greatest(-named) independent baseball team in these United States—has the lead. Nine for nine from the Dairy Farm.
  • Among celebrities, Fargo—our dog—is not in last place, but her champion, Utah State, has been eliminated. She has no comment but she did leave the apartment during the last few minutes of the game to have a whiz. Been there, bud.
  • Texas A&M is the most popular champion pick in our challenge, selected by nearly 20% of entries.

Ok. Here’s the link to the scoreboard. Have at it, friends. Wow that’s a big donut that kid’s eating in the commercial. Where do I get one of those? Oh, DoorDash. The commercial was for DoorDash.
