NASCAR Goes to Kansas

There’s more NASCAR tonight. Race is at Kansas. Last one before they take a week and a half off. As far as storylines go, it’s the same things we’ve been looking at for a while now:

  • Kevin Harvick is the favorite.
  • Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott, and Ryan Blaney are all liable to contend.
  • Kyle Busch is still looking for a win.
  • Martin Truex Jr. is ready to go off on someone.
  • Jimmie Johnson is trying to stay above the playoff cutoff line.

There are others, of course, but this is the general picture. Hopefully NASCAR gives us something to work with. Were I allowed to script it, I’d have Johnson win the first two stages but come up short at the end while Truex and Joey Logano get into it and Logano win, to really lock him into the villain role. Puts Blaney in a tough spot then, too. Not fun to be the teammate of the villain. Unfortunately, NASCAR has yet to reach out to me about helping them rig races. Pretty disappointing, to be honest.
