Mo’ne Davis Is With the Dodgers Now

It’s evidently been nine years since Mo’ne Davis pitched in the Little League World Series, which does not feel like it should be possible or allowed. Alas. My complaints with the time are going unanswered.

What’s Mo’ne Davis been up to?

She graduated college.

In the nine years since that 2014 Little League World Series (that was the Jackie Robinson West year, too), Davis won two state championships (soccer, softball) with Springside Chestnut Hill Academy and played college softball at Hampton, whose website shows she started in the middle infield her junior season but doesn’t show her on the roster for her senior year. Now, she’s a summer intern with the Dodgers, or at least she was. I’m not finding any reports on when the Dodgers summer internships ended. That’s kind of refreshing.

The Los Angeles Times profiled Davis in July. She’s going to start a master’s program this fall in sports management and wants to work in a front office one day. That would be impressive and special, and we want that for her, but we do want to point out that Pennsylvania’s governor in 2014, Tom Corbett, predicted Davis would play professional baseball. Yet another promise our political class couldn’t keep.

This year’s Little League World Series begins Wednesday, with a league from Panama playing one from the Czech Republic in the opening game. For fellow fans of Fargo Little League: They play their first game on Friday at 7:00 PM EDT. Plan your week accordingly.
