Mercedes Looks For a Big Day in Russia

Sochi. Which Olympics were those? Were they…2014? Where would the Olympics have been in 2018, then? Pyongyang? Wait. No. That’s the capital of North Korea. Ok let’s do a lookup. PyeongChang. There it is. And yes Sochi in 2014. Got it, got it, got it.

Where It Is

Sochi (by the shores of the Black Sea, which I realized, and quite close to Georgia, which I did not realize—it’s just a couple miles from the border of the Russian-occupied Georgian territory from 2008)

Who to Watch

So, Max Verstappen—who leads Lewis Hamilton by five points in the standings—actually has to start this one at the back (changed his power unit), making him a significant underdog (14-to-1). Hamilton is at 5-to-7 odds, and Lando Norris is at 9-to-4. Mercedes leads Red Bull by only 18 points, so keep an eye on Valtteri Bottas of Mercedes (18-to-1), who also has to start at the back (also changed his power unit), and Sergio Pérez of Red Bull (35-to-1).
