Let’s Appreciate Ryan Tepera’s Tact Last Night

If you’ve missed the Brewers/Cubs kerfuffle, these videos should fill you in. Jomboy is the best at the conflict breakdowns, and the Cubs’ Twitter people are, of course, professionals:

I don’t have much to say about the Brewers/Contreras side of this beyond that the Brewers are trying to back Contreras off the plate and it’s 1) not working and 2) evidently something they’re much worse at commanding than most of their pitches. Idiots.

But I do want to appreciate the tact of Ryan Tepera’s actions. Throwing behind a guy, as Joe Kelly has taught us, is a graceful way to send a message, and throwing behind his legs is especially deft. Staring off into space after doing it, like a dog who did not just try to steal that hamburger? A pro’s pro right there. And not wasting a HBP on a pitcher? Strategically savvy.

This is why the guy got that MVP vote. Stuff like this.
