Joe Kelly: Good Pitcher, Better Dad

Ok, first of all, Joe Kelly’s son’s preschool graduation was yesterday and he made sure to be there despite pitching the night before in a late ballgame (in related news, the kids reportedly dressed like what they want to be when they grow up and Knox dressed like an astronaut—but an astronaut who plays football).

Secondly, look, he’s still getting sharp.

When you come back late in the year, there’s going to be a ramp-up, and aside from really just the one pitch—a hanging knuckle curve that got popped, he was sharp. Changeup was dastardly. He hit 99 mph on a fastball. No, his numbers aren’t great, and it’d be good to see more strikeouts (he did have one last night), but it hasn’t been five innings yet. He’ll get there.
