It’s been a great year for our NIT Games of the Week. LSU lost to UCLA. Utah lost to BYU. Nobody remembers how that Virginia/UNC game ended. Nebraska almost beat Michigan State.
But a thing about the NIT is it never stops getting better, and you and I must do the same. We must commit to improvement. Which is why this NIT-esque college football game must be even more NIT than the last.
Yes, you’ve guessed it. Baylor at Oklahoma State. Does that not reek of hopeful relevance?
There were other options, sure, and some might say we’re selling the NIT too low, given these teams are ranked an average of 20th and NIT-quality teams are generally closer to 15th if we’re doing this equivalently. But you know what? This was the best we could do, and while it might not be like two top seeds duking it out, a lot of the best NIT games in history come from the middle tier.
So tomorrow night, oh wait. Oh, God. Is this the one that isn’t on TV?
Whoop, good, ok, never mind. ESPN2. Thought this might be the Big 12 Network game. They’ve been doing that. I’m not sure Big 12 Network is a thing that exists.
