I Want a Presidential Candidate to Feud with Pitbull

Pitbull performed in South Bend, Indiana this Friday night at Four Winds Field (where the South Bend Cubs play). This isn’t all that exciting. I mean, I’m sure it was exciting for the people there. But for the rest of us, big whoop.

Except.

This was a redemption tour for Mr. Worldwide, who failed to appear at a scheduled concert in South Bend a few months ago, canceling at the last minute. Which means people in South Bend were, at one point, very upset with Mr. 305. Yet Mayor (and presidential candidate) Pete Buttigieg did not call the performer out. We had a great opportunity for a feud between a small city mayor/fringe presidential contender and Pitbull, and we didn’t get it.

In a vacuum, this is disappointing. Out of a vacuum, it’s still disappointing. A candidate’s relationship with Pitbull has nothing to do with who will receive my vote or the primary in which I will vote. But it has everything to do with how entertaining the often-insufferable presidential race is.

Buttigieg missed his chance, and at this point he has to stick to his guns. But there are a boatload of other candidates who still have the opportunity to spark conflict with Miami’s most hypeful ambassador.

We’ll see where their priorities lie.
