Further Evidence Emerges that NIT Champion Shaka Smart Is a Good Guy

Texas Athletic Director Chris Del Conte held a town hall yesterday (I think—not fact-checking this audacious claim), and at one point said the thing all NIT fans wanted to hear:

That’s right, haters. “Unbelievable.”

You didn’t just hear it from me, a humble blogger to whom Shaka Smart was unnecessarily nice one time in New York right before I had a lot of fun on escalators. You heard it from the boss. The head honcho. El bossaroonie. Chris from the Conte.

So say what you will about your national championship-winning coach. Complain all you want about his insistence on not playing in that other, bad tournament. But admit this, Texas fans:

Two people have now told you that Shaka Smart is, in fact, a good dude.

Side note: Austin American-Statesman Longhorns beat writer Brian Davis is a great Twitter follow who will provide you with dad-tweets like this one and this one and this one).
