Fire Meets Ice: Burnley Goes to Leeds

Leeds, eh? Poor blokes.

Whom:

Burnley @ Leeds United

What:

EPL match number fourteen for the fellas.

Where:

Leeds, which is apparently a place between Manchester and York, which means it’s not too far from Burnley. And yet stylistically…but we’ll get to that.

When:

6:00 AM American Central Standard Time

How to Watch:

Streaming only, it appears.

What’s at Stake:

I’m writing this on Thursday, so it’s unclear exactly at this point, but basically, Burnley’s trying to gain ground and put more distance between themselves and teams at the bottom of the table. Passing Arsenal might be a possibility. Pulling within a point of Leeds is a possibility. Not ruining Christmas is the most important possibility.

The Odds:

As of Thursday, I’m seeing Leeds at -140 to win, a draw at +300, and Burnley at +350. Didn’t realize the haters were still so active on the market.

The Opponent:

Leeds was promoted at the end of last year. Known colloquially as the Litres (you bet your arse I’m not looking up their real nickname), they appear to play some cocaine-fueled brand of footie in which there might be multiple balls on the field (no, I don’t do cocaine either, but yes, that brand of footie does sound fun). They’ve allowed 30 goals so far this year, or more than two a match. They’ve also scored 24—three times as many as our beloved Burnleys.

Burnley News:

I’m not sure, but check out this video from the BBC. I understand something like 80% of it and I would love to learn about the other 20% and I hope you do too:
