Did I Influence the Price of Bitcoin on Saturday?

A few days ago, I tried this:

It was nothing special. Just an attempt to shake up the market. I was seeing if I had the power to do such a thing. A heat check, if you will.

And at first glance, it appears it didn’t work. After all, Bitcoin is up about 5% since I tweeted that.

But let’s zoom in on what really happened here.

I sent the tweet at 11:03 AM CDT:

At that time, the price of one bitcoin was somewhere between $10,311 and $10,342.

Roughly two hours later, the price had dropped all the way to $10,071.

Now, it rebounded, of course (presumably once everyone clicked on this, which I threw in the comments, but the record stands: the first significant movement on the part of Bitcoin’s price following my tweet was a jump downward.

Stay tuned.
