Death By a Thousand Pains in the Rump

Recently, I had one of those days where a lot of little things kept going wrong. None of the things, by itself, was that bad. My laptop that was supposed to be fixed still wasn’t fixed when I arrived to pick it up. I had to send a fax to Albany (wormhole, I assume) and none of the UPS Store fax machines in town were working. Eventually, I downloaded a fax app and paid eight bucks to send the thing over to the bureaucrats, but had that not worked? Had I needed to continue searching for a fax machine? Had other minor maladies befallen me?

What I’m asking is, has anyone ever died because so many inconveniences stacked up that they just could never eat or go to bed or do another one of those little necessities? Nothing big, just tons of little things all conspiring to eventually take them out?

In other words: How at risk was I?
