Checking in on the European NIT

The thing about the European NIT, called the Europa League by many, is that it’s always going on. Qualifying for it is so complicated and playing in it is so complicated that at any given time, you can make a case for virtually anything in existence impacting the European NIT. Example: I delivered Pluckers last night to a guy on crutches. Handed that guy the Pluckers at his door. Maybe I was a little early. Maybe that meant he ate dinner a little early. Maybe that meant he had a little more time to read on his phone before bed. Maybe he read about Austin F.C. Maybe he’ll end up going to an Austin F.C. game this year. Maybe his attendance will raise their revenue enough to pay a starter just a little bit more, the little bit necessary to keep him going to, I don’t know, Dinamo Zagreb. Maybe Dinamo Zagreb will therefore be handcuffed from reaching a future European NIT. Such is the European NIT effect. Or as some call it, the Europa League effect. I have been told it happens with butterflies too.

Anyway, I guess its championship is two weeks from tomorrow. Manchester United vs. someone called Villarreal. Sad our lads Sevilla aren’t up there again, but such is life. Villarreal’s also in La Liga, and they play in the city of—you guessed it—Villarreal, which is on Spain’s eastern coast and used to grow a lot of oranges and was the birthplace of the guy whose work was used in a popular Nokia ringtone. Man. Wikipedia’s so fun.
