Burnley: No Longer Pointless

It was a point, and at this point, a point we shall take. Burnley is still in last place. But they’re tied for it again now. And they’ve played one fewer game than their cohorts.

The Result:

Burnley drew West Brom, 0-0.

How It Happened:

Nobody scored, and then nobody scored, and then, at long last, nobody scored.

What It Means:

The lads are still in danger of relegation, but they’ve at least gotten the lid off the ol’ point bucket heading into a tough few weeks.

What’s Next:

A tough few weeks. Tottenham at home on Monday. Chelsea at home on Halloween. Brighton on the road the first Saturday in November.

Other News:

Guðmundsson started, so that was good to see. Nice to get Nick Pope a clean sheet, for the vibes. Haven’t seen anything else of much note. Phil Bardsley tested positive for the virus, so that’s not good. Hope he’s feeling alright.

General Thoughts:

I’m getting my tires rotated right now, and at least one of them but maybe two has/have slowly been leaking air, but I’m cool with pushing it if these folks don’t catch it, and I’ll probably need new tires soon anyway because I generally need new tires with some regularity, but it’d be nice to wait a bit because of money. They’re showing a Halloween movie marathon on TV and I sat myself in the seat that has the worst view but I’m still intrigued.

Burnley Thoughts:

Maybe this’ll change again, but it seems like the Europa League shouldn’t be the goal right now. Seems like getting up into the middle of the table should be the objective. Feels like there are nine good teams (the six, Everton, Leicester, Wolverhampton), but there are also a couple who are definitely better than our lads (Fulham, West Brom) and then the old slog of mediocrity. Burnley needs to find the heart of that. Which probably means getting at least three points out of these next three matchdays. Right?
