An Expansion Draft Suggestion for the Ottawa Senators

We’re all about ideas here, which is to say that when we don’t know what to blog about, we (well, I) sometimes just throw out an idea. See: CaliCar.

So, with the Senators’ expansion draft protected list, or whatever it’s called, due this weekend and little else to write about (writing this last night—look at me time traveling—so excuse me if there was news already today and I missed it), here’s an idea:

The Trojan Horse.

It’s not my idea, of course. It’s the Greeks’ idea. I just use it: like democracy and starting Eurozone drama with my financially wanton ways. But here I’ll use it for the Senators.

Whomever moves from the Senators to the Kraken should try to take down the Kraken from inside.

Would this help the Senators? Not really. Marginally, at best. I don’t think the Senators are going to be in the Kraken’s division at any point in the next decade, barring some wild twists in the realms of either North American politics or North American plate tectonics.

But it’d be fun, and given the cross-border nature of the NHL, it’s gotta be way easier to launder money to a guy than it is in leagues that only take place in one nation, like the Europa League.

Thanks, Greeks. See you in Seattle.
