Will Burnley Ever Score Again?

Yes, I was supposed to do this Friday. I didn’t. I’m not sure why I didn’t, but—well, I guess I kind of know, but it’s more just a temporary apathy/distraction than anything reasonable. Anyway, here’s your Burnley recap, Burnley fans.

The Result:

Burnley played Brighton to a draw, 0-0.

How It Happened:

Brighton got a good number of chances. Burnley got a bad number of chances. Neither converted on any.

What It Means:

The relegation probability’s up to 43%, per FiveThirtyEight. Burnley’s ahead of Sheffield United by a point for last place, having played one fewer match than them, West Brom (who’s a point ahead of Burnley), and Fulham (who’s two points ahead of Burnley). It was a road point, though, and in normal times, we’d take that.

What’s Next:

There’s a brief break for international play, then Burnley plays Crystal Palace at Turf Moor on Saturday the 21st. Potential opportunity for the first win, which is big, because after Crystal Palace it’s Man City, Everton, and Arsenal all in a row.

Other News:

It was Burnley’s fourth straight match without a goal. Dale Stephens missed the affair with an injury.

General Thoughts:

Cleaning the house is weird. You’re always just resetting it to clean and then watching it dirty itself again. Weird stuff. That or I’ve had too much coffee. I don’t often drink coffee. I’m on my second cup. A little hungover, too.

Burnley Thoughts:

I mean, scoring’s not Burnley’s thing, but at some point there needs to be a goal or two. That Crystal Palace match looms large, but so does every home match against a non-big six or Everton or Wolverhampton or Leicester.
