By now, you may have heard: Patrick Wisdom grew a great mustache and promptly hit four home runs in its first two games this weekend.
I mean, goodness, that is a great mustache. Hilarious story about his child, too.
To be honest, though, I’m a bit disappointed. Where was this in May, when Joc Pederson was sitting there flexing his lip muscles all day trying to squeeze out any sort of hair in an effort to push the Cubs to the top of the division? The Cubs needed mustaches then. They had a great one, yes. Andrew Chafin’s was phenomenal. They had a greatly terrible one, too. Pederson’s was heroic. But if Wisdom had just come into the league with a mustache like God clearly, by the looks of it, intended…
