If you, like me, have asked, “When will Joe Kelly’s suspension end?” I have your answer:
He can return on Tuesday, August 25th, when the Dodgers start a three-game set in San Francisco.
He went on the injured list retroactive to August 9th—this past Sunday—so his tenth day will be the 18th, and if he comes off the IL the next day to begin serving the suspension, it will end after the Dodgers’ August 23rd game against the Rockies. Following a day off, for all parties involved to collect themselves, our hero will be ready to rejoin society that Tuesday, the 25th, against the Giants.
Yes, this is not ideal. Our man’s missing a quarter of the season because of this shoulder and justice stuff. Still, it’s far too early to count him out of the Cy Young race. His ERA’s still 0.00, folks. And it’s gonna remain there until he returns on August 25th (or later if his IL stint drags on).
