Here is a short and incomplete list of things happening today around the SEC:
Baton Rouge: At LSU, the governor of Louisiana is bringing a possibly illegally owned tiger to tonight’s football game to stand in a cage on the sideline and most likely eat a raw steak when Alabama comes out of the visiting locker room. The tiger’s owner has owned many tigers, and has allegedly accidentally allowed multiple to escape.
Auburn: At Auburn, the Tigers’ men’s basketball team meets Houston tonight for one of the two biggest games of the basketball season so far. The game is in Houston. The Tigers were delayed in getting to Houston last night when the pilot turned the plane around due to players fighting one another.
Gainesville: At Florida, the university’s student newspaper, The Alligator, reported yesterday that head men’s basketball coach Todd Golden is under Title IX investigation for sexual harassment and stalking. The targets of the alleged harassment and stalking are reportedly current and former Florida students. There’s a chance that this has something to do with the school’s interim president and embattled athletic director publicly affirming their support this week for Florida’s football coach.
Oxford: At Mississippi, Lane Kiffin listed 26 different players on this week’s injury report, which may be the largest number in the young history of injury reports in SEC football. This comes after there were so many complaints about Mississippi faking injuries to slow down opposing offenses that the SEC commissioner had to institute off-field penalties for the practice.
Nashville: At Vanderbilt, quarterback and cult hero Diego Pavia is suing the NCAA, asking for more eligibility for former junior college players. Pavia will turn 24 this spring.
Again, this list is short and incomplete. As always, we could have expanded the Baton Rouge portion.
