What Happens If the Cubs Trade Their Only All-Stars?

Alright, here’s a question.

Craig Kimbrel and Kris Bryant, the Cubs’ only two All-Stars, are both presumably trade targets around the league. We know the former is. We assume the latter is. We don’t know when moves will be made, and there’s a possibility in some form moves won’t be made, but there’s also a possibility moves will be made before the All-Star Game, which brings me to the question:

What happens if a team’s only All-Star(s) get(s) traded before the game? Does the team get a replacement? Could the team have no All-Stars? Does Major League Baseball step in and say, “Hey guys, why don’t you hold off for a minute?” Does the team get a player from another team to be their substitute All-Star? (“Look. Yankees fans are mad at Gerrit Cole right now anyway. Let’s just put him in a Cubs hat all weekend.”) Does the team accidentally stop being a Major League team? Does the traded player put on his old team’s stuff one last time? Is this why Major League Baseball changed it up and is having All-Stars not wear their team’s uniforms during the game? Are Craig Kimbrel and Kris Bryant being traded as I write this?

Ok, sorry, those were questions, plural, but I just couldn’t stop myself. There’s a piece of me that wants to find out.
