We’re about an hour away from tipoff between Rutgers and Wisconsin, two of the defining programs of the 2023 NIT. At the moment, reports indicate Dylan Harper will return to action for the Scarlet Knights after missing this weekend’s game at Indiana. Me? I usually feel sick after I watch Mike Woodson’s teams play basketball. For Harper, the anticipation must have done him in.
Harper’s listed as questionable, but NJ Advance Media/The Star-Ledger beat reporter Brian Fonseca has said the potential NBA top pick is dressed and warming up as he normally would. Signs point to Harper playing in this basketball game.
What does this do to Rutgers’s hopes of making the NIT?
Well, here’s the thing. In most seasons, we’d say this helps the Scarlet Knights. They’ve been a little bad, they need to be a little better, Harper is good at basketball. This year? Thanks to a Fox Sports contract we can only imagine Joy Taylor convinced Kevin Warren to sign, the Big Ten has to send two teams to Fox Sports’s own imitation NIT, provided that event doesn’t get canceled due to widespread disinterest.
So, I’m sorry.
We have pretty much no idea what Dylan Harper’s health tonight does for Rutgers’s NIT shot.
