We Have an NIT

Well, folks, we’ve got it. We have an NIT. Here’s the bracket, in case you haven’t yet seen it:

Is it the field we expected? No. Louisville opted out. Xavier opted out. Seton Hall, Duke, and St. John’s all opted out. Navy opted out. And then the committee said, “Hey guys, we aren’t taking sub-.500 teams. We know there’s been that rumor that we take them now, but it’s hard to find that confirmed anywhere, and honestly, we probably don’t know if it’s a rule or not, so we erred on the side of not letting the Big Ten ever put anyone in the NIT again as long as they play those 20-game conference schedules.”

Also, Buffalo showed up! Fun to have them around. Closest thing to Nate Oats we’re going to get.

We’ll have picks and all that this week, I’m sure. We already have the bracket challenge, so you can get to work on that if you’re itching to go. But for now, we’re just excited to have an NIT. It’s back. What a time.

Safe travels to all heading to the Metroplex in the coming weeks (two—two weeks). If you’re looking for a place to eat in Frisco, I can’t help you, but I do know where the Waffle House is in Denton because it’s a great spot to eat if you’re on your way north because Denton’s kind of the last stop before OKC, so hit me up if you have trouble finding it (honestly just type it into Google Maps it’s right by I-35 it isn’t that hard).

Bona NIT, friends.

Bona NIT.
