Weber State hosts Cal Poly tonight in what would be their Big Sky Opener, were the Big Sky Conference a sensical league that doesn’t have some games between conference opponents deemed “non-conference.”
Still, it’s a big game for our beloved Beekeepers, because in college football, every game is kind of like a conference game (I don’t know what that means).
Here are facts about Cal Poly:
I saw a headline that said something about them running the option
This might not have actually been a headline. It might have been the little blurb on Google below the headline. But I think they might run the option. No way to know for sure.
If you say their school’s full name funny, you can make it sound like a different school
“CAL polyTECHnic” sounds like Cal Tech if you say it right, and Cal Tech is a really good nerd school. Not as good a football school. Not sure if they even have a football team. But anyway, Cal Poly could try to get some smart students by disguising itself as Cal Tech. Just a thought. Not sure if they’d get the smartest students that way, but who can say.
Weber State’s a 14-and-a-half-point favorite, which means that God, who measures his love in points, loves them 14 and a half points more than he loves Cal Poly
Sorry, that’s just how it works. I’m not God.
Weber State has yet to score a point this year, their first full season since declining to change their name to the Beekeepers
Interesting. Say what you will about Beekeepers, but at least they score.
Cal Poly is a space grant institution
I do not know what this means, but I saw it on Wikipedia just now and I like the way it sounds. Makes me think Cal Poly has a literal satellite campus.
John Madden played at Cal Poly
It’s true.
Weird Al and Ozzie Smith also played at Cal Poly
But they didn’t play football, and Weird Al wasn’t playing a sport (that we know of). He was playing music.
