Tim Anderson Deserves Some Credit

There is an important takeaway from the fight between José Ramírez and Tim Anderson last night in Cleveland: It was awesome.

There is another important takeaway from the fight between José Ramírez and Tim Anderson, and it stems from the first: We need more baseball fights like that.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen two players square up like that to fight. It’s usually a tackle and/or a headlock, an effort by one player to hold the other still so the one can hit the other. It appeared José Ramírez and Tim Anderson have each been in a fight before. They looked like they knew what they were doing.

So, credit to Tim Anderson for helping make that happen. No discredit to José Ramírez, but José Ramírez already has his reward. He knocked Tim Anderson out in the middle of a baseball game. Didn’t even have to sucker punch him to do it. Tim Anderson needs a win right now. The win is that he looked really cool, and if you’re going to lose a fight, it’s better to do it while looking cool than while looking normal. Tim Anderson, please, do not let getting knocked out on the clay infield of Progressive Field stop you from doing this again.
