In case you missed it, Benny the Bull and Gritty hung out this week, making a lot of our dreams come true.
But zooming out a bit, let’s think about what happened here:
- Someone with the Flyers got in touch with someone with the Bulls.
- Someone approved the expense of paying Benny the Bull to come in to work for a few hours.
- Someone approved the expense of Gritty, and whatever handlers accompany him (the guy in the background here?) flying to Chicago and back.
- Someone bought and/or brought toys for the two mascots, including mariachi band equipment and the game Operation.
- Someone stood there with a phone and documented the meetup.
Now, it is very, very possible I missed something explaining this more fully, but if that’s the case, I don’t want to know. I prefer to live in a world where two athletic franchises worth a combined $3.5 billion or so organized a playdate for their mascots, bringing joy to us all in the process.
