The Senators Won.

Holy butts they did it.

The Final:

Senators 3, Canadiens 2

How It Happened:

Jimmy Stu! Tim Stützle led the charge, notching a goal and two assists. Matt Murray had a solid night. Thomas Chabot and Connor Brown found the net. Erik Brännström contributed an assist in his first action of the year.

The Sens did let Montreal back within a goal with a minute and a half left (and on an Ottawa powerplay, no less), but they held on. Victory at last.

Any Fights?

Yes! Hometown kid Erik Gudbranson put Corey Perry in a tough spot. Perry had to kind of decline the fight by holding on for dear life. Emasculation all around.

Standings:

Toronto: 17 points, 11 games played
Montreal: 16 pts, 11 GP
Winnipeg: 15 pts, 11 GP
Edmonton: 12 pts, 12 GP
Vancouver: 12 pts, 14 GP
Calgary: 9 pts, 10 GP
YOUR BELOVED OTTAWA SENATORS LOOK OUT THEY’RE GAINING: 5 pts, 11 GP

Senators News:

I looked. And I didn’t see anything big.

Senators Thoughts:

Well, I now know who Brown and Gudbranson are, bringing the list of players I know up to nine (if I’m allowed to consult my notes—without them I’m probably just at five or six). Seemed like the team found its groove a bit. And Stützle making plays is thrilling giving how hyped he is.

Also do the Senators get to call themselves the real Canadians now?
