Last night, I looked at my phone, having seen earlier that the Senators had led by two twice, saw the final score, and said “FUUUUuuuu…”, not finishing the word because I realized this was the third game of my Senators fanhood and that’s too early to be even briefly upset about a blown game.
The Final:
Jets 4, Senators 3 (OT)
How It Happened:
As was said, the Senators led by two twice. They outshot the Jets 41-26. They outhit the Jets (keeping that crucial streak alive) 26-25. But with 1:17 on the clock and an empty Winnipeg net at the other end, the boys let Blake Wheeler put one in the net, then fell in overtime on a Nikolaj Ehlers goal.
Any Fights?
None.
Standings:
Sens are up to fifth, having gotten the point with the overtime loss:
Toronto: 6 pts, 4 games played
Montreal: 5 pts, 3 GP
Calgary: 5 pts, 3 GP
Winnipeg: 4 pts, 3 GP
YOUR BELOVED OTTAWA SENATORS: 3 pts, 3 GP
Edmonton: 2 pts, 4 GP
Vancouver: 2 pts, 4 GP
Yeah, too early to be looking at the standings, but this is how I learn.
Senators News:
Jimmy Stü didn’t play. Some nagging injury, I think I saw.
Senators Thoughts:
Hate missed opportunities, but guessing this is a thing that happens a good bit in hockey? So just don’t want to make a pattern of it? (Also, remember this in the event the Senators miss the playoffs because they trail the Jets by three or fewer points—big swing.)
What’s Next:
Rematch with the Jets tomorrow night. Sorry, Jets. It’s democracy time.
