Big Senators news today, and I’m not talking about Josh Norris finishing fourth in Calder Cup voting and making the NHL’s All-Rookie team, because that happened two weeks ago and I just didn’t get around to blogging about it last week.
No, the big news today is that the Senators have hired my former calculus teacher, Mike Hermann, to be their Senior VP of Player Development.
In actuality, it’s not Mr. Hermann who got hired. It’s Pierre McGuire. That dude from NBC who looks like Mr. Hermann. Seriously. Check it out:
Ok, so both of those are McGuire, because I couldn’t find a picture of Mr. Hermann online (evidently they changed the directory over the last nine years, because I definitely made a matching game in computer science involving the math department headshots), but trust me. They look nigh identical.
Anyway, McGuire/Hermann will not be in command of Sens’ personnel (that’s still Pierre Dorion, and no, I don’t know why the name Pierre is so effing hilarious but I share your desire for the Senators to one day be run solely by men and women named Pierre), but he’ll be near the top, and people seem excited. I’m excited. I haven’t seen Mr. Hermann in years. Really nice guy. One of my favorite teachers. Good for him.
