The Senators Could Theoretically Climb Out of Last Place Next Week

There’s a case to be made that the Senators don’t want to climb out of last place in the NHL’s North Division, as doing so would jeopardize their place in the draft (NHL Draft, not conscription into military service). There’s also a case to be made that they won’t be able to maintain it if they do climb out, since Vancouver will still need to play seven more games than Ottawa will have remaining.

Personally, knowing very little about hockey, I get the feeling hockey’s a vibe sport, and if you can finish the season strong and climb in the standings, I say you go for it. Feels like the way to build some hype and place me a year ahead of schedule on the Sens’ bandwagon.

In the end, it doesn’t really matter what we, Senators diehards that we are, want. The team is going to try. Bless them for that.

Four game series starts tonight. Two out west, two back east. All (hopefully) fun.

Whom:

Senators vs. Vancouver Canucks

Where:

Vancouver. (Has Desperate Housewives done a season in Vancouver and if so, did they use the Vancougar pun?)

When:

9:00 PM Central Daylight Time

Television:

Nothing American. Canada’s keeping this one for themselves.

The Odds:

Sens are at +125, which has to be close to their season best. Could they be favorites back in Ottawa if these first two nights go well?

Senators News:

I have not seen anything of note and I looked harder than normal this time.
