The Senators Cool Off

The Senators have officially cooled off. After a three-game (effectively)-losing-by-one-goal streak, they lost by four last night.

We regroup. And strive to, once more, only lose by one.

The Final:

Jets 5, Senators 1

How It Happened:

About as the score looks. Jets took the lead early in the second, then piled on late after Matt Murray had to leave due to injury.

Any Fights?

Nope.

Standings:

Keep an eye on Covid. The Oilers/Canadiens game was delayed after one player was placed on the Covid protocol list. But it did go on.

Toronto: 23 points, 14 games played
Montreal: 18 points, 14 games played
Edmonton: 18 points, 16 games played
Winnipeg: 17 points, 13 games played
Calgary: 15 points, 13 games played
Vancouver: 12 points, 17 games played
YOUR BELOVED OTTAWA SENATORS: 5 points, 15 games played

Remarkably futile.

Senators News:

Artem Zub was held out last night after an inconclusive test (positive followed by a negative). Derek Stepan opened up about the personal difficulty of his trade to Ottawa (sparknotes: The Stepans have a newborn who was born, in the States I believe, just before the trade). Marcus Högberg is reportedly no longer the desired backup goalie. Filip Gustavsson might have to make the start on Saturday if Murray cannot. Joey Daccord and Logan Brown sound like longer-term backup candidates. I know nothing about any of those three.
