The Senators’ April Fools’ Prank? Getting Stomped.

As a friend of mine likes to say, hilarious joke.

The Final:

Canadiens 4, Senators 1

How It Happened:

Emphatically. Canadiens led 4-0 with two minutes left. Not the best night from the Senators.

Any Fights?

Nope.

Standings:

After a while off, the Senators are even with pretty much everyone not in Montreal in games played, which makes the picture clearer.

Toronto: 49 points, 36 games played
Winnipeg: 46 points, 37 games played
Edmonton: 45 points, 37 games played
Montreal: 41 points, 33 games played
Calgary: 35 points, 37 games played
Vancouver: 35 points, 37 games played
YOUR BELOVED OTTAWA SENATORS: 28 points, 37 games played

Senators News:

Filip Gustavsson was in goal again. Not sure if he played well or poorly, but he was in goal.

In exciting news of the future, the Sens signed Jacob Bernard-Docker and Shane Pinto out of North Dakota now that their college season’s done. They should be with the team in the next couple of weeks. Bernard-Docker was the Sens’ first round pick (26th overall) in 2018. Pinto was the second round pick (32nd overall) in 2019.

Senators Thoughts:

With 19 games left, the work’s cut out for the Senators to climb out of last. The playoffs seem rather firmly out of reach, but maybe they can make a run on Calgary or Vancouver? We’ll see. Bummer to lose as badly as they did, but they’ve also only played one game now in the last week, and they had four straight days off just a little bit before that, so wonder if they’re out of the groove a bit.

What’s Next:

Rematch with the Canadiens tomorrow (Saturday). In Montreal this time.
