The Senators Almost Had Quite the Week

What a win that would have been.

The Final:

Maple Leafs 3, Senators 2 (OT)

How It Happened:

The Senators took an early lead, gave it back, and tied it midway through the third on a goal by recent callup Alex Formenton. The game looked shootout-bound, but a Thomas Chabot pass into a 3-on-1 was intercepted with seconds left, and the Leafs scored on a rebound to escape Ottawa with two points.

Any Fights?

None.

Standings:

Point doesn’t hurt.

Toronto: 44 points, 33 games played
Winnipeg: 42 points, 33 games played
Edmonton: 42 points, 34 games played
Montreal: 37 points, 31 games played
Vancouver: 35 points, 37 games played
Calgary: 33 points, 34 games played
YOUR BELOVED OTTAWA SENATORS: 28 points, 36 games played

Senators News:

Anton Forsberg, the recent waiver claim from Winnipeg, started in goal and played well.

Senators Thoughts:

Five points in three games, three points on a back-to-back. Hard to complain.

What’s Next:

As of right now, the Senators are scheduled to play the Canadiens on Tuesday, but I’m not sure that’s guaranteed with Sunday’s game against Montreal already postponed due to Covid issues with the Canadiens.
