I’m not on the Dodgers’ subreddit (one of those things where I’m waiting for them to find me, rather than seeking them out and exposing myself to an ambush). But a source (I have moles) has just informed me that after Kenley Jansen’s blown save last night (no shame—those could happen to anybody), there are influential voices on Reddit (i.e., not influential voices to the Dodgers) clamoring for Joe Kelly to be the Dodgers’ closer.
To which I say:
I mean, I guess.
To be honest, it doesn’t really matter if Joe Kelly is the Dodgers’ closer, the Dodgers’ setup man, the Dodgers’ middle reliever…as long as he’s getting the ball a few times a week, throwing gas, getting whiffs, and throwing gas, I’m on board with the plan. Just let me know what inning to check on the play-by-play when I wake up after one of those late-night West Coast games (forgive me, I value my sleep and finance my blogging with morning commute rideshare driving).
