The Old Big East Is Back! In the NIT.

What do you think of when you think of the old Big East?

Not Rutgers?

Oh.

Well, uh…we’ve got Pitt and Syracuse too?

Our NIT Bracketology was updated this morning, and it’s hot, with major programs Pitt and Michigan State on the one-line opposite Rutgers, who gives the NIT crucial access to the New York media market (how else did the Big Ten get so good?), and Arkansas, who gives the NIT crucial access into being within a day’s drive of me (fun fact: for those of you who know about Fargo, Fargo is coming from somewhere pretty close to Fayetteville).

Other notes for today:

  • Memphis bullied Wichita State last night in an uncharacteristic result for both teams. Strong play by Wichita State to stay in the field. They were getting dangerously close to the edge of the dock.
  • Colorado State beat Utah State in Logan, keeping the Mountain West pair firmly in our grasp.
  • Saint Mary’s got a necessary road win (over Loyola Marymount), as did San Francisco (over Santa Clara). Only Saint Mary’s moved into our field, but don’t worry, Dons—we’re calling around and seeing if we can find you a room.
  • Nothing great going on tonight, besides Cleveland State trying to hold onto their two-game lead over Wright State for the HoLo regular season crown and—if Cleveland State wins it—the accompanying likely NIT auto-bid.
