Yesterday was an ugly day for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Clayton Kershaw was throwing baseballs like a clogged garden hose.
The staff had to work out of more jams in the second game than Willie Nelson at an ICE checkpoint.
Both games were losses, to the Chicago Cubs, and I think I’ve watched enough Cubs baseball to say that a team with aspirations of being the best team in history should not lose a doubleheader to the 2021 Chicago Cubs.
The vibe is terrible right now in Los Angeles. Gavin Newsom’s aura has infiltrated Chavez Ravine. The Los Angeles Dodgers are dangerously close to the full-on implosion known colloquially in California as “the big one.”
Enter Joe Kelly.
Now, we don’t know exactly when Joe Kelly’s going to return. We do know it’s supposed to happen soon, though. Soon, Joe Kelly will again take the mound wearing Dodger blue. When he does, will all be right in LA? It’s hard to know for sure. But if all isn’t right in LA with Joe Kelly back on the mound, it’s hard to imagine anything that could do it.
