I don’t know, I’m not that thankful for the rain. I don’t want the Cubs to get no-hit, but what difference does it make, really? A bummer of a way for Kris Bubic to lose it. Though to be fair, he was statistically very likely to lose it regardless.
It was good to see Patrick Wisdom go deep, Keegan Thompson was fine but not that good, not a whole lot else of note.

Draft Watch:
The Cubs are sixth in the draft order at the moment, with the Nationals and Twins each half a game off and the latter not playing today due to a hurricane.
The Diaspora:
Kris Bryant homered for the Giants in Oakland, Andrew Chafin allowed a pair of home runs but none to Bryant.
Around the Division:
The Brewers put Tyrone Taylor on the IL yesterday. The Reds won, but so did the Padres, so the Reds remain tied for that last playoff spot in the NL. The Cardinals lost to the Pirates and are now four and a half back of that pair.
Up Next:
The series finale.

Whom:
Cubs vs. Kansas City
When:
1:20 PM Chicago Time
Where:
Wrigley Field
Weather:
Temperatures in the 70’s, wind blowing in from left or left-center at ten to fifteen miles per hour. A very August Sunday.
Starting Pitchers:
Alec Mills vs. Carlos Hernández
The Opponent:
A rather recent addition to the rotation, Hernández is having a solid year, with a 4.29 FIP over 52 innings and a 4.07 xERA. He’s only 24, and it’s far too early to know if the Royals have something, but it’s possible they’ve got something.
The Numbers:
The Cubs are -125 favorites, with the Royals at +115 for an implied Cubs win probability of about 53%. The over/under’s at 9½ and leans towards the over.
Cubs News:
Jake Jewell was optioned to AAA to make room for Thompson. Johneshwy Fargas cleared waivers. Nico Hoerner is out on a rehab assignment and could return in the next week.
Cubs Thoughts:
Mills is one of the most exciting things happening for the Cubs right now. Hopefully that keeps going. Good situation—Royals lineup, wind blowing in. Go get ‘em, guy.
